There are, at least, 3 hints leading to this answer.
- Christmas celebration was exemplified by the angels (Luke 2: 13-14), the messenger of God, implying that celebrating Christmas was a message from God. Did the apostles follow message from God? Yes.
And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying, Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men. (Luke 2: 13-14)
- 2 Timothy 2: 8 indicates that first generation commemorated Christ birth, while the twelve apostles was the leader of first generation.
Remember that Jesus Christ of the seed of David was raised from the dead according to my gospel (2 Timothy 2: 8)
