1. Christmas celebration was exemplified by the angels (Luke 2: 13-14), the messenger of God, implying that celebrating Christmas was a message from God. Did the apostles follow message from God? Yes.

2. 2 Timothy 2: 8 indicates that first generation commemorated Christ birth, while the twelve apostles was the leader of first generation.
