4) Why is the doctrine of the virgin birth so important?

Question

Why is the doctrine of the virgin birth so important?

Answer

Because it is identification that…

  1. Jesus is Messiah according to the prophecy of Isaiah 7: 14.

14 Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel. (Isaiah 7: 14)

She was not only young women, but she was also virgin. Jesus birth from virgin Mary is a strong identification that Jesus is the Messiah (the Christ). If Mary were not virgin, Jesus would not be the Christ.

  2. Jesus is The God’s Word/ Wisdom who was sent by The God according to the prophecy of Isaiah 55: 11.

So shall my Word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it. (Isaiah 55: 11)

This verse closely relates to John 1: 1-3 and John 17: 1-3, emphasizing that Jesus essence is The Word or The Wisdom of God, which is non-creature.

  3. Jesus was born without sinful nature, then he has potentials to not doing any sin. Jesus utilized at best his potential and, subsequently, Jesus does not make any sin. (1 Peter 2: 22).

Who did no sin, neither was guile found in his mouth (1 Peter 2: 22)

Sinless nature only be possibly achieved by virgin birth without involving sperm, ovum, or any part of parent cells.

  4. Jesus flesh is woman-born human and creature.

Concerning his “Son”1 Jesus Christ our Lord, which was made of the seed of David according to the flesh (Rome 1: 3)

Note

1Figurative word “Son” refers to The God’s Wisdom or The God’s Word.
